17 August 2014: The End of Pakatan Rakyat?

Pakatan Rakyat has always been an unlikely alliance.  Three parties with three different principles and objectives are never meant to be together.  The only way for the alliance to work is to have mutual respect for each other and to acknowledge Anwar Ibrahim as the ultimate leader.

However, this simple condition is just too much for all the three parties.  None of them respect the other and all of them want to be the ultimate leader.

PKR sees the alliance as a vehicle to get Anwar Ibrahim to the Prime Minister’s seat in Putrajaya while DAP sees Anwar Ibrahim as a tool for the Chinese to rule Malaysia.  None of the two pay any attention to PAS but expect the party to just tow-the-line and follow orders.

There was never so much problem with the arrangement, though there have been disputes over Hudud and Negara Islam and things like that.  But PAS has always been the obedient dog and Anwar is always ready to play any part at all, as long as he remains in the limelight.  Both PAS and Anwar were always happy to kow-tow to DAP, even when ‘Islam’ is at stake.  So, there was no problem that the alliance could not handle then.

It is clear to the people that in Pakatan Rakyat, Anwar may be the ultimate leader, but DAP has always been the boss.  The crazy part is that, both DAP and Anwar Ibrahim wants to play ‘dictator’.

This time, Anwar and DAP are in agreement that they need to change the Chief Minister of Selangor.  One of the main reasons to oust Khalid is because he has failed to get JAIS to return the bibles to the Bible Society of Malaysia.

And so, the mission to replace Khalid Ibrahim is carried out fiercely and mercilessly.  It is now no more a dispute or a little internal problem, but a ruthless war.  Khalid is accused of being corrupt, weak, incapable, even disloyal. No more talks about his credibility and valuable experience as a corporate figure that we used to hear in the last election.  Khalid is now the worst person ever lived in this world.  Khalid needs to be replaced with Anwar Ibrahim’s wife!

It doesn’t matter that Anwar Ibrahim’s wife, the Puppet President of PKR doesn’t perform.  It doesn’t matter that PKR is in haywire and need her attention and action.  It doesn’t matter that she is proven to be far worse a leader than Khalid Ibrahim.

All that matter is that Anwar will have a hand in Selangor’s administration while DAP pats his shoulder.

Anwar and DAP could have things go their way even if the majority in their parties do not agree with them.  However, things just blow out of proportion when PAS chooses to ‘disobey’ their orders and defend Khalid.

For that, DAP gives PAS a warning and harsh words are said.  Just like Khalid, PAS is also accused of disloyalty.

DAP’s message to PAS is so far very clear, that the only solution in this situation is for PAS to come to its senses and know its place in Pakatan Rakyat.  PAS must understand that going against DAP and Anwar’s wish is unacceptable because PAS is just a dog and is in no position to talk, what more disobey.

PAS managed to pull its strength and insisted on having a meeting to discuss the matter further.

The meeting that was first set on 10th August was postponed to 13th August and then again to 17th August.  Looks like choosing a meeting date is a big problem too.

PAS is in great pressure as can be seen in its official portal, Harakahdaily whereby the President is being attacked by the members openly.  This, I heard from a friend of mine just over breakfast this morning.  Gone are the days where the ‘Ulamas of PAS’ cannot be criticized.  Today, PAS members call their Ulamas names just because they do not kow-tow to DAP and Anwar.

This morning, Lim Kit Siang posted in his blog that this meeting is not so much about Khalid’s fate, but more of Pakatan Rakyat’s.

There is no doubt that there can only be two options for Khalid and PAS, that is, the DAP’s/Anwar’s way, or get out of the way.

Either way, the Selangor people will still lose.

DAP Does Not Tolerate May 13 Threat, but Welcomes it With Open Arms

A title from Kit Siang’s blog read: “DAP and PR will not condone or tolerate any May 13 threat but we are prepared to fully co-operate with UMNO and BN to ensure there will not be another May 13 in Malaysia.”

I guess Kit siang needs to write long titles that already summed it all up, just in case people don’t read the whole write-up.

So, DAP will not tolerate people who threatened to start a May 13 bloodbath.  DAP will even work with UMNO to stop it.  DAP is all for peace and harmony, for love and unity.

Now, here’s DAP’s calling for peace, harmony, love and unity:

“Don’t talk. All the time talking May 13, May 13. Bring lah May 13. You think what?
You think we’re scared, ah?” — P. Ramasamy, DAP Deputy Secretary-General.

Okay, we get it:  DAP doesn’t tolerate May 13 threat but it tolerates the people who asked for it, welcomes it and dare the Malays to start it.  This is love, peace, harmony and unity - DAP style.

I think everybody can sense very strongly that DAP has been trying to start May 13 ever since their lost in GE-13.  This explains why the party didn’t issue a warning or take any action against Ramasamy.

Unfortunately for DAP, the Chinese don’t have the guts to die for any cause at all.  Even their Blackout protests became a stupid joke.  DAP is now counting on the Malays and Indians to start the bloodbath while they take the farthest seats in the distance.

The ‘Allah’ issue has gotten them somewhere, but still not close enough to another May 13 riot - not that they have given up on the issue though.

In the mean time, DAP used Rayer to call for war with the Malays, and managed to get some stupid UMNO guys to respond as planned.  However, it didn’t get as big as DAP hoped for as there were no bloodbath.  After a while, the case just died down.

Now, Ramasamy is doing the same – calling out for war - asking for a bullet on behalf of his master.  Still, I believe, nothing will happen except for a police report which will end up in some files on the shelf somewhere in the police station.   Worse case, he could be charged but - no bloodbath.  What a disappointment for DAP.

DAP must have assumed that if they called the Malays ‘celaka’ and ‘coward’ loud enough, then the Malays will eventually run amok and they can blame the Malays for starting May 13.  By using Rayer and Ramasamy to make the call, they hope that the Chinese would be spared from the blame, and the bloodbath too.

I’m sure that the Malays are willing to die for their pride and their rights but, ‘die’, will only be the last resort because Malays are not Arabs.  Malays may seem shallow, emotional and impromptu, but when it is a matter of life and death, they always take time to think about the consequences.

Or else, how do you think the country managed to get its independence without tearing everything down?

Malays is a very soft and gentle race - they are no gangsters like Chinese or Indians.  The worst terror acts ever recorded in Malay history could be a few isolated cases of ancient Sultans killing a couple of innocent peasants.  Even the Sultans then, didn’t feel the need to start a war just to expand its territory.  That’s how we get so many Sultans in the country. They didn’t bother each other as they were all happy just to be able to live comfortably.

While the Chinese Emperors, Roman leaders, Huns the barbarians or Genghis Khan the conqueror killed to expand their territories, the Malays already know how to value peace and humanity.  The Malays may not have such great buildings to boast about, but that is okay, as long as nobody is hungry.  There were no need for ‘ego’ or ‘greed’ in the Malay land then.  Because of their peaceful nature, the land was blessed.

And so the Tanah Melayu prospers throughout centuries after centuries.  Then, the Portugese, the Dutch, the Japanese and the Brits came with greed and ego.  The Brits later brought in the Indians and the Chinese - doubling the greed and ego.

Still, the only thing in the minds of the Malays is to live peacefully.  So, when the Malays were forced to accept Chinese and Indians as citizens in order to gain independence - they did.  And as we can see today, it was not a very wise decision, but ‘peace’ has its price.

You see, the Malays may be lazy but they are definitely not stupid.  They know what matters most.  Whereby the Chinese aren’t so smart but they are definitely hardworking.  When a Malay is not lazy, he easily excels and that is when the Chinese becomes intimidated and started the backstabbing and the racist game.  (I can see this clearly from my office room).

One thing for sure is that there are more rational Malays than rationale Chinese, which is why the country is still intact even with all these racial and religious provocation.

The few irrational Malays choose to flock over with the irrational Chinese and Indians in Pakatan Rakyat.  We can see them marching down the streets tearing the city apart from time to time, hoping for a confrontation with the rational Malays and start a May13-like bloodbath.

Of course, the rational Malays have so many other things to do than entertain them.  And so the irrational Malays are left running around, screaming and jumping alone on the streets for a couple of hours before they got tired, may be collect some RM50 from someone, and go home - a far-fetched from May13-like bloodbath.

Bottomline is that, if DAP wants to repeat May 13, they have to do it themselves – just like the old days. Flip your history book and see how it started:  You wouldn’t find an Indian daring the Malays to come and get him.  You wouldn’t find Malays running amok against the Chinese over nothing.   You wouldn’t find Malays killing each other on the streets.

That was not how May 13 happened, DAP should know better.

So, if DAP really wants a repeat, do it right.

Lim Kit Siang is Dyana’s Press Secretary?

I don’t think I am exaggerating by saying that Teluk Intan’s by-election’s result will serve as a statement of Malaysians’ mentality, particularly the Chinese. From the result, we will be able to see whether the people were able to vote sensibly, that is by looking at the track records and credibility of the candidates and not hindered by the logo of the party or the look of the candidates.

As we all know, media coverage on Teluk Intan by-election is obviously biased whereby the DAP’s candidate, Dyana Sofea, has taken up all the limelight. Because of this imbalance-coverage, I have to dig out from some other sources just to get some information on her opponent, Dato’ Mah Siew Keong, the BN’s candidate.

What I found on Dato’ Mah, I must say, is very impressive, and a much worthy news to read compared to this Dyana Sofea’s craps.

BN is betting on a candidate with vast experience in serving the people. Dato’ Mah Siew Keong, was a council member in Hilir Perak in 1995. He became a Representative for Pasir Bedamar in the same year. In 1999, he was a Member of Parliament for Teluk Intan and managed to retain the seat in 2004. He became a Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry before switching to Agricultural portfolio in 2006. Dato’ Mah is now the President of Gerakan.

To mention some of his ‘good deeds’ during his long service, Dato’ Mah had realized the 10km flood mitigation project and helped solved the problems for the people along Sungai Perak. He is also active and effective in his fights for education, agriculture and welfare of the locals. He had set up a dialysis center with the help of local NGOs and was the key role in getting the funds for various other projects eg. Chinese temples, Chung Hua Medical Foundation, Community College, Bus Terminal and etc..

From the record, Dato’ Mah had obviously fought hard for the people as well as for his race, in particular. There is no reason whatsoever for the Chinese or any race in Teluk Intan to reject him.

Therefore, if this by-election is held among a normal, sane and civilized society, Dyana Sofea wouldn’t stand a chance with Dato’ Mah.

Dyana is new to the world. She has nothing to show and nothing to offer to the people of Teluk Intan, except her face, maybe. And after I watched this video, I don’t know anymore whether Dyana is the Political Secretary of Lim Kit Siang or is it Lim Kit Siang who is her Press Secretary:

Dyana went ‘blank’ (I think she was really about to ask, "tunku aziz who?") when a reporter touched on the subject of Tunku Aziz - a Malay, who once naively trusting DAP with all his heart, just like Dyana. History in short, Tunku Aziz joined DAP hoping to make a change but was slapped in the face and offered a ‘bribe’ to stay, so he left. Hmm…What does Dyana has to say about that? It was such a good question that will help us understand her stance, her views and visions in DAP.

Unsurprisingly, Dyana went ‘totally blank’. While a ‘slap’ woke Tunku Aziz up, Dyana is sleeping soundly. Lim Kit Siang had to save her by taking the microphone away and brushed off the most brilliant question as ‘irrelevant’.

If Dyana is a little smarter, at that very moment the question was asked, she must have realized that she is not ready for this, and that she is way too far-fetched, in this political world. She hasn’t arrived anywhere, but yet she thought that she has made it big just because she is ‘accepted’ by the Chinese.

Dyana, like Marina Mahathir, (as her mother claimed to be), they live in a tiny world in their little tiny brain, a victim of inferiority complex that has turned into a superiority complex. Because they think their minds are wide open enough, they closed it up, disabling new information to be absorbed and analyzed. Because they think that they are smart enough, they refuse to continue to learn. And because they think they have seen it all, they choose to close their eyes.

And so, they become dumb, which explains why Lim Kit Siang has to be by Dyana’s side all the time. Kit Siang is afraid if Dyana says or do the wrong thing. Dyana needs to be led and monitored. She doesn’t have the wisdom to understand what this by-election really means, or what politics might lead her to.

Dyana is specifically selected because she’s dumb and the trick is that, she must be kept that way.

Now, let’s wait and see whether the people of Teluk Intan are even dumber than her. Would they elect a person who had done so much for them and is capable to do so much more, or would they elect a dumb girl who has nothing to offer but to ‘kill’ her own race? Would ‘killing’ her own race do good to anyone?

But Kit Siang said that putting Dyana in the arena is a proof that DAP isn’t thinking about race at all. Well, if this is not about ‘race’, then why does Dyana keep talking about it? I don’t hear Dato’ Mah talking about it though…

Lim Kit Siang, Musa Hitam: Prisoners of the Past!

If you are a regular reader of Lim Kit Siang’s blog, you would come to realize that this guy has real problems of letting go of the past. Kit Siang relives 13 May tragedy again and again as if he couldn’t accept the fact that he was defeated, lost and found guilty. He couldn’t accept the fact that he had failed - that the Chinese had failed to conquer Kuala Lumpur and bring down the Malay-government.

Now, Kit Siang is ‘pestering’ for a Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) to re-investigate the tragedy that happened 45 years ago. It is pathetic how this guy is fighting for the future by trying to change the past.

I didn’t know that this psychological problem of ‘unable-to-let-go-of-the-past’ is contagious until Musa Hitam brought back Memali onto PAS’s platform just recently. Now, Kit Siang is asking for RCI for Memali too.

Who knows wha’t’s next. Perhaps, next week, some PKR guy would get ‘infected’ with this psychological disease and bring back Sauk or Ops Lalang onto the headlines and demand for RCI also.

I don’t know what good will it makes for these people to bring back the past. Don’t we all have enough problems already? Why would we want to dig old graves when we need to build a nation?

You know, there’s a difference in ‘living in the past’ and ‘learning from the past’.

‘Learning from the past’ means you accept the past and try to not repeat the mistakes. ‘Living in the past’ means exactly the opposite. Denial of past failures will only lead to repeating the failures and eventually made the person, a loser.
“Winners learn from the past and losers live in the past.”

I am not a religious person, as many of you must have known. However, I believe that people with strong faith and firm stance will eventually win any battle just because they don’t have to deal with guilt and self-conscious. All they do is focus and move on. Whenever they make mistakes, they corrected it, learned from it and strive to do it right. They don’t get distracted with lust, greed, hatred or resentment. - They are the winners!

What is happening with Musa Hitam and Kit Siang is definitely a symptom of a ‘loser’. This Musa Hitam guy is definitely having ‘guilty-conscious’ over what happened in Memali. He tries to deny being the one who ordered the shot in the Memali incident. He tries to deny being the one responsible for the bloodbath.

This guilty-conscious plus the vendetta that he has against the other Tun must have blocked some of the blood vessels in his head and forgot that in 1985, though we didn’t have internet, we did have newspapers and that today, we can easily archive all the newspapers from the internet and share it with only one click.

What we found was not surprising. Musa Hitam was the Home Minister and also Acting Prime Minister at the time of the incident because the Prime Minister, Tun Mahathir was in China for an 8 day visit. The orders the boss had given on Memali, as Tan Sri Sanusi Junid recalled, was to catch Ibrahim Libya alive.

Still, it was Musa Hitam who was in-charged and he was even reported to ‘warn those who challenge law’ as spelled out boldly in the NST 20th November 1985.

Musa could have stand by his decision just as Tun Mahathir has stood by him then. The people accepted Musa’s decision well. We all, the majority of Malaysians, respect Musa’s firmness. We all agree that those who challenged the law must not be tolerated. That’s the way it should be and should always be.

But Musa has to demonize his ex-boss just to fulfill his hatred and he had to lie in order to do so.

Now, he is giving the shovel to Lim Kit Siang to dig old graves hoping to find or create something to bury his ex-boss. Almost ‘naturally’, the Oppositions media are fast to receive the call for RCI for Memali. My question is, for what? What’s in it for the country? Nothing!

Unless, the RCI dug as far into PAS’s Memali Fund, then at least, the widows and children of Memali may finally get their money back.

Musa Hitam hatred towards the Tun matched that of Lim Kit Siang’s. Try they must to demonize him, in every chance they get. Although the Tun has resigned, he still haunts them day and night.

This is understandable in the case of Lim Kit Siang since Tun Mahathir is like a fort that guards the Malays and the country. Tun is always fast in giving the warnings should any new policies are to be passed that may not be good for the country, or his race, especially.

He is the first to detect the cunning move made by the west in their quest to rule the world, and voice it out. And his voice is always heard. As much as he loves his ‘bangsa’, he believes in living harmoniously with all races. Therefore, he doesn’t need to pretend or lie like other politicians in their effort to win the hearts of everybody. All he does is call all races to learn to give and take and to accept that this is the only way to live harmoniously.

I think, Lim Kit Siang has realized that he needs to reduce Tun Mahathir’s influence in order to achieve his dreams of ‘Chinese Supremacy’. Other politicians may have a price, but not the Tun which makes him a hell of a problem. The Malays listen to him and look up on him for guidance and advice. Kit Siang knows that the Malays aren’t able to think on their own and without the Tun looking after them, they will never survive – not with the kind of leaders they have now – in PR and BN alike.

‘Get rid’ of the Tun, get rid of the Malays, so it goes for him. However, Lim Kit Siang can find no way to ‘get rid’ of the Tun. And this is why he is living in the past, hoping to paint a different picture, a different story and turn things around. He needs to make Tun the bad guy, and he and all the enemies of Tun, the good guys.

Well, here’s a quote for Kit Siang:
“The past is never there when you try to go back. It exists but only in memory. To pretend otherwise is to invite a mess." - Chris Cobbs

It’s 2014 now and Lim Kit Siang’s son is governing Penang. Musa’s buddies are all around in BN as well as in PR. Both of them have a chance to prove themselves as better leaders than Tun Mahathir. Therefore, instead of going back to the past, why not help the son and the buddies to build a better Penang or Selangor or Kelantan or the whole country?

Why not show us the real brains by offering great ideas or constructive criticisms towards the government? Or are there no real brains but only the mouth doing all the work?

If Musa or Kit Siang may admit, most policies now are the same as in Tun Mahathir’s era but there was also no problem of racial polarization during his time. Malaysia was at the top of the world while in his hands.

Only now that some of the policies or Acts have been changed or abolished altogether as per PR’s demands. With that in mind, isn’t the country should be in better shape now, than then? If Tun Mahathir was so bad, why are we going a step lower every day now that the Tun is no longer governing?

The reason is because, Musa and Kit Siang and their counterparts (which include some BN leaders) are trying to invent the present by changing the past, while believing that they are creating the future. The fact is, the present is already invented, the past cannot be changed and the future very much depends on the present. Unfortunately, Kit Siang and Musa and their counterparts are not living in the present so how can we expect them to create the future?

You see, besides going back to the past just to demonize Tun Mahathir, what else can these two losers do? Nothing!

Malaysians VS Malays-ians?

DAP keeps on denying that there was a ‘Chinese Tsunami’ in the last General Election. According to DAP’s ‘common-sense’, the case of 97% Chinese rejected BN in the last election is supposed to be referred to as ‘Malaysian’s Tsunami’ not ‘Chinese’. In the same breath, DAP insists that they are not ‘Chinese’ but instead, ‘Malaysians’.

If ‘Malaysians’ rejected BN, then who were those people who voted for BN in the election? Aren’t they Malaysians too? Since UMNO’s vote had increased despite BN’s worst performance, then the answer to the question must be the ‘Malays’. The Malays are not Malaysians, eh?

With that, DAP is indirectly saying that Malaysia is divided into two: the ‘Malaysians’ on one side, and ‘Malays’ on the side.

And now, DAP is pushing for a National Reconciliation in order to tackle the racial polarization problems. And I thought that we have no racial problems? I thought it was just a case of some ‘Malaysians’ prefers PR over BN?

I’ve been reading Lim Kit Siang’s blog and I can tell you that almost every piece of material in it is about racial problems. Since there are no more ‘race’ in Malaysia (because we are all ‘Malaysians’, according to Kit Siang’s common sense), this racial problems must be started by the ‘un-Malaysian-Malays-who-voted-UMNO’.

Now, can you see how Kit Siang plays his racist card?

If you can’t see that, then let me explain it to you:

Kit Siang is telling us that the problem of this country is the Malays in UMNO and that the only way to solve this problem is to get rid of Malays and UMNO. Without Malays and UMNO, Malaysia would be a better country.

Now, let me tell you what ‘better country’ means for Kit Siang:

A better country for Kit Siang is where the Malays no longer hold the political power and the chinese can build properties on any kampung they like; Kampung Baru would be first and foremost. A better country for Kit Siang is when no Malays hold any top posts in any government agencies and GLCs anymore. A private company may pay double or triple to some stupid Chinese or expatriates, but never ever promote or hire even the most outstanding Malays for top posts. A better country for Kit Siang is when there are no more rooms for the Malays to compete with the Chinese – no UiTM, no GiatMara, no ASB, no government special bumi loans or grants to start a business, no nothing for the Malays! And there must also be no JAKIM and no Sultans to protect the needs of the Muslims in regards of their religion.

Again, the only thing that is holding ‘the Malaysians’ back from Kit Siang’s version of a ‘better country’ is UMNO and Malays! Am I right, Kit Siang?

There, I have laid it out to you loud and clear. If you like Kit Siang’s version of a better country, then it is your choice. However, I would like to point out to you that you should not call yourself a Malaysian if you agree with Kit Siang. What Kit Siang has in mind is a replica of Singapore with himself as Lee Kwan Yew. Therefore, it will only make more sense if you call yourself a Singaporean instead.

To save the trouble for all of you guys who love Kit Siang’s idea of a better country, I suggest that you migrate to Singapore because that way, you don’t have to get rid of the Malays and UMNO. The only setback would be, it won’t be Kit Siang that is holding the power, but Lee Kwan Yew. And this is why Kit Siang needs to turn Malaysia into Singapore so that he can be the power that be, and not any other guy from some other clans. Bottomline is, Kit Siang battle is all about power for himself or at least, his family.

As for me, I can never agree with Kit Siang. A person who refused to assimilate with the original settlers is simply arrogant and rude. History has proven that such a person is a definite tyrant. How does a tyrant make a good leader and create a better country?

In Malaysia, we have not one Kit Siang, but almost all these supposedly ‘Malaysians’ share Kit Siang’s dream of a better country where there is nothing Malaysian about it. They refuse to honour the national language, they choose to be separated from the national education system, want to abolish or change the constitution, history, identity and everything that spells Malaysian. In fact they want to create another ‘Singapore’ on Malaysian ground, complete with a taste of ‘China’ in it.

For your information, my relatives in Australia are beginning to get pissed off of the Chinese immigrants over there for the same reason – they refuse to assimilate and started to build their own ‘territory’ – even seem to want to conquer the country, part by part, town by town. I mean, who can tolerate such attitude?

For me, a better country is where the people live in harmony by respecting each other mutually and equally. A better country is where the people share the love of the country just the same, embrace history and accept it as it is, learn from it and strive to be better, together. You cannot claim to be a Malaysian until you can relate to Parameswara, Sultan Muzafar Shah, Hang Tuah, Tun Perak or Dato’ Bahaman or Mat Kilau or Kanang Anak Langkau…etc..

You see, although you have the rights to agree with Kit Siang about a ‘better Malaysia’, but that would mean that you have no rights to call yourself a ‘Malaysian’. And whatever you say will not change the fact that what happened in GE13 was definitely a Chinese Tsunami, not Malaysians.

It is not the ‘government’ that is a problem for DAP or Kit Siang, it is the ‘Malay-government’. It is not UMNO, but it is the fact that UMNO represents the Malays.

With DAP, it has always been the Chinese against the Malay-UMNO-government.

Rags to Riches, Riches to Rotten

Many believe that you only get to be wealthy if you already come from a wealthy family. Many also believe that if you don’t come from a wealthy family, the only way to get rich is the wrong way.

The truth is, our people refuse to believe that hard-work and faith can really turn rags to riches.

In general, we take the word ‘rich’ as the same meaning with ‘successful’. And admit it or not, many of us believe that the only way to be ‘successful’ is to be involved in corruption.

And yet many had proven that they can beat the odds, like Syed Mokhtar AlBukhary who didn’t finish school because the family couldn’t afford it. He becomes a millionaire through years of hard-work.

There was also the late Tan Sri Lau Gek Poh who had to pawn his wife jewelry to start a business which later turned into a family business that includes dealership of Mercedez Benz and Porche. Of course we have the late Tan Sri Lim Goh Tong who escaped hardship and war in China and worked as carpenter and vegetable farmer before things got better for him and founded Genting.

In the west, they believe that hard-work and great mind or great talent can get you anywhere you want to go. Therefore, they don’t always relate ‘successful’ to ‘corruption’. Corruption might ‘help’, but then, corruption alone won’t get them anywhere.

Just to name a few of rags to riches from the west:- Howard Shultz - a son of a truck driver who managed to get a scholarship that finally led him to a decent job in Xerox. He later bought a coffee-shop called Starbuck and becomes one of the richest men in the world.

Francois Pinault - quit school for being so poor and worked in his family’s timber business before decided to take risk and started buying small businesses. He is now one of the richest men in the world.

Bill Gates, Oprah Winfrey, Steve Jobs, Mark Zuckerberg are among the ordinary or less than ordinary people who made it huge. Some may not come from the rags, but they all make their billions from their talents, hard-work and great minds - not from corruption.

These successful people, they explore, they discover, they invent, they conquer their fields and own the world. They stand proudly with their brands and marks. They live luxuriously and deserve every penny of it.

In Malaysia, however, people can become as rich by just being corrupt alone.

You don’t believe me? Haven’t you heard that luxurious ‘lifestyle’ is the trend or the ‘in-thing’ in Malaysia today?

Don’t you know that there are Malaysians, including the young ones, who can afford a vacation on luxurious yatch, relaxing on the beach of the Carribean, shopping in Harrods or eats at the finest restaurant in Paris and smoke the finest Cuban cigar? And they don’t even have to have talent or discover anything.

We know that there are Malaysians who had honestly made it to Hollywood. To name a couple who have made it to the top are Michelle Yeoh and Jimmy Choo. Both of them had a humble start from the bottom, had gone through hardships before finally broke the barriers with determination and great talent.

However, apart from these two names, we don’t really know how some other Malaysians get invited into parties with the Stars, mingling with people from the list of Fortune 500, flashing their million dollar mansions and cars – living the lifestyle of the rich and famous. England, Manhattan, Paris is second home to them, not just a vacation destination anymore.

But even with all their ‘success’, we cannot relate their names to any talent, product or business or ideas or invention or discovery or anything at all, that could have put them there.

I mean, how did they get so rich when they haven’t done anything as big that could have caught the attention of the world?

Now, let’s not pretend that we don’t know where they got the money from.

We all know, and the world knows, that these not-so-significant Malaysians got to live the lifestyle of the rich and famous by simply being corrupt. They don’t really do anything to get there, that they might as well print a name card that says ‘Corruptor’.

What is amazing about them is that they don’t have the slightest shame flashing their money and luxurious lifestyle when everybody knows that they don’t deserve a cent of it. They just feel fulfilled by the emptiness of their heads.

Speechless eh? Talk about being corrupt to the bone.

When a person is corrupt and proud of it, it is a sign of a rotten soul. While others turn their lives from rags to riches, these corruptors just turn from riches to rotten. And rotten souls stink. You think people can’t smell it beyond the Armani suit?

When other riches served as inspiration to the world, these rotten souls only serve as a shame to the nation.

And we still believe that we can become a First World Nation in few years to come?
